Driver Bureau — Website Privacy Policy

1. Who we are and what this policy covers

This policy explains how Driver Bureau collects and uses personal information when you visit driverib.com or contact us through it. We comply with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

"Driver Bureau", "we" and "us" means Drivers Bureau, registration number 2014 / 231589 / 07, of PO BOX 1684, Honeydew, Gauteng, 2040, South Africa. For the purposes of POPIA, we are the "responsible party" for the personal information described in this policy.

Out of scope: personal information processed inside our assessment platform on behalf of our clients (for example, a trainee's assessment results) is governed by our agreement with that client, not by this website policy. If you were assessed through your employer, contact your employer first about that data.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what we need, in two ways.

Information you give us. When you complete a contact, demo-request or quote form, email or phone us, or subscribe to updates, we may collect:

  • your name, job title and employer;

  • your email address and phone number;

  • the content of your message and anything else you choose to share.

Information collected automatically. When you browse the site, we and our service providers may collect:

  • your IP address, browser type, device type and operating system;

  • pages viewed, time on each page, and the page that referred you;

  • cookie and similar-technology identifiers (see section 5).

We do not ask for special personal information (such as health, biometric or criminal information) through this website, and ask that you do not send it to us through contact forms.

We use personal information only for the purposes below, and only where POPIA allows it.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decisions that significantly affect you.

4. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with people who need it to help us run the website and our business:

  • service providers that host the website, send email, and provide analytics, who act on our instructions ("operators" under POPIA) and must protect your information;

  • professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, under confidentiality;

  • authorities, where the law requires it.

Cross-border transfers. Some providers store or process data outside South Africa. We transfer personal information abroad only where the recipient is bound by law, a binding agreement or binding corporate rules giving a level of protection substantially similar to POPIA, or where POPIA otherwise permits it, for example with your consent.

5. Cookies and analytics

  • Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them to make the website work and to understand how it is used.

  • Essential cookies keep the site functioning and secure. They cannot be switched off.

  • Analytics cookies show us which pages are visited and how people reach us. We use Google Analytics for this, and only with your consent where required.

  • You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Doing so may affect how parts of the site work.

6. How long we keep it, and how we protect it

  • Retention. We keep enquiry details for as long as needed to deal with your request and any resulting business relationship, and for up to [period, e.g. 24 months] after our last contact unless the law requires longer. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe. Website analytics data is kept for [period]. When we no longer need information, we delete or de-identify it.

  • Security. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to prevent loss, damage or unauthorised access to personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and vetted service providers. No online system is completely secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

7. Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you, and request access to it;

  • ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, outdated, excessive or unlawfully held;

  • object to our processing of your information, including for direct marketing;

  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already done;

  • unsubscribe from marketing using the link in any email, or by contacting us.

  • To exercise a right, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity first, and will respond within a reasonable time.

8. Children

This website is intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows the current version, and material changes will be highlighted on the website.
